Anchor Home Ministries was launched in August 2020 after 17+ years in formal church/pastoral ministry.
With so many years of experiences doing life with people and families, we count it a privilege and an honor to be invited into some of the highest-highs, lowest-lows, best seasons, and worst seasons of peoples' lives. It is our desire to see everyone, no matter where they are at, come to know, feel, experience, and walk in, God's grace and truth (His Word). We recognize it can be difficult to find integrative Christian/Pastoral counseling that is biblically sound, Christ-centric, and God honoring..We believe a true understanding of God, and a healthy expression of self and relationships are founded upon a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior, while being empowered by the Holy Spirit for daily living. It is with this purpose and passion that Anchor Home aims to help people anchor their lives on the truth and love of Jesus.

Darren Mettler Darren grew up in Mission Viejo, CA. He attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara receiving a B.A. in Religious Studies. Shortly after, Darren was asked to join a Christian Ska band, the "O.C. Supertones" as the trumpet player. He toured extensively for nearly a decade. In 2004 he took on a Pastoral role at a church until launching Anchor Home Ministries in 2020. Darren has an M.A. in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Talbot School of Theology (Biola). He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), a certified "Prepare/Enrich" Facilitator, and a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor (BCPC) from the International Board of Christian Care (IBCC). He is a licensed Pastor/officiant through the National Association of Christian Ministers (NACM). Darren enjoys the humbling privilege and calling of pointing others to Christ. |
Family Darren and Joy were married in 2001 after a 3 year friendship. They live in San Clemente, CA. They have 4 children (3 girls- 34, 21, 19; & 1 boy- 23) and an active Bernedoodle named Hobie. Darren and Joy enjoy walking/hiking, going to the gym, and swimming for exercise. Darren also likes to play an occasional round of golf (with a golf ball or a frisbee). Joy is a gifted cook/foody, and is more recently an aspiring master bread baker. They both enjoy gardening... and equally agree they can never get enough sun, beach, and sand. Darren and Joy find pleasure and purpose working closely together to come alongside others in their life and faith journey. |
Joy Mettler Joy grew up in Capo Beach, CA. She graduated from San Clemente High School and became a licensed hair stylist over 30 years ago. She owned her own salon for over 9 years. Joy was a single mom for 8 years. After marrying Darren, she became a vital ministry partner for 17+ years in the church. Joy has homeschooled her 3 kids for over 15 years. Recently, she has become a certified "Prepare/Enrich" Facilitator and pursued a Certificate in Biblical Counseling from Light University (AACC). Joy is happy to use her "joyful" personality and God-given "helper's heart" to encourage others in their personal journey with the Lord. |
